ALBANY- The Albany State University Department of Athletics has announced that Amber Barker has resigned from her post as the head softball coach.

Barker has accepted the same position at Texas Woman's University an NCAA Division II institution located in Denton, Texas.

"We would like to thank Coach Barker for her outstanding contributions to Albany State University and the softball program," says Director of Athletics Sherie Gordon. "She always brought a positive energy and was an exemplary leader for our student-athletes. We wish her nothing but the best as she moves on to the next phase of her career."

Harley Roller has been named the Interim Head Coach for the ASU softball program.

In two seasons at the helm of the ASU softball program, Barker compiled an overall record of 54-47. This past spring, she was named the HBCU Division II Coach of the Year after guiding the Golden Rams the 2018 SIAC softball championship and an NCAA Division II playoff berth.
