Nine Golden Rams, coach receive All-SIAC honors

ATLANTA, GA- The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its all-conference football awards and superlatives. The Albany State Golden Rams garnered nine all-league honors and two superlatives awards. The awards were voted by the SIAC Football Coaches Association.
 
Albany State head coach James "Mike" White is the Co-SIAC Coach of the Year along with Tuskegee University head coach Willie Slater. After an 0-2 start, White led the Golden Rams to a 7-2 overall record and a 7-0 record in the SIAC. White also led the team to the SIAC East Division title and its third SIAC Championship game in four years.
 
ASU junior running back Jarvis Small is the SIAC Offensive Player of the Year. This season, Small rushed 205 times for 1154 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also recorded 100 yards or more in eight straight games, including a career-high 234 in a 40-14 win over Benedict College. Small was also named to the league's offensive first team.
 
Senior offensive lineman Victor Moli joins Small on the first team for a second consecutive season. Moli led an offensive line that helped produce 24.8 points per game, 1602 rushing yards, 1673 passing yards and 26 touchdowns.  Fellow lineman Javoris Wilburn and Danny Bunch were both named to the second team.
 
Junior linebacker Tavarius Washington was named to the SIAC First Team on defense. Washington recorded 80 tackles (60 solo), five sacks, three pass breakups and four forced fumbles this season. He currently ranks ninth in the NCAA in solo tackles.
 
Junior Jack Ndem and sophomore Grover Stewart were named second team defensive lineman, while seniors Keionten Miller and Calvin Harris, Jr. were named to the second team as defensive backs.
 
Ndem recorded 29 tackles, five sacks, eight quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles this season. Stewart, who was an SIAC First Team member last season, has 36 tackles six sacks and six quarterback hurries on the year.
 
Miller led the ASU secondary with 32 tackles, two interceptions and six pass breakups. Harris added 18 tackles, two interceptions and four pass breakups.
 
Albany State will face Tuskegee on Saturday, November 15th in the 2014 SIAC Championship game.  The first kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. central time.
